Encounter rare Yellow Eyed Penguins in their natural habitat at Penguin Place.

Otago Peninsula, near Dunedin in New Zealand’s South Island, is world-famous for its wildlife encounters. At Penguin Place, visitors can join a small-group tour of a very special conservation reserve where the endangered Yellow Eyed Penguin (‘Hoiho’ in Maori) lives and breeds in a protected coastal habitat.

Join a penguin tour and learn about New Zealand’s precious native wildlife before travelling across this working NZ farm to the Penguin Place conservation project. Here, you will move through covered trenches and bird watching hides so that you can watch and photograph these shy penguins without disturbing them.

Visitors can even stay overnight at Penguin Place Lodge; self-contained accommodation offering a real Kiwi farm stay experience with stunning views and within easy reach of popular Otago Peninsula wildlife attractions like the Taiaroa Head Royal Albatross Colony.

Bookings are essential. Contact Penguin Place to find out more and make a reservation.
